~Previously~

Turning her attention back to the steel door in front of her, Erika tapped it a couple of times. "Okay, so it's not too thick. Which means it should come down with enough force.

She kicked it down resulting in a clanging noise that made the unconscious guards stir.

"Mama!" Ryu cried.

Erika felt something sharp against her neck, before a roar filled her ears. She fell to the ground, unable to process what had just happened. Shock ... I'm going ... into shock ...

~Presently~

A shockwave sent the quinjet shaking.

"What was that?" Tony asked.

Vision stood up suddenly. "That was a massive amount of energy being released. Something went wrong."

Steve grabbed his shield. "Avengers, Assemble!" He ran out of the quinjet, following Erika's path into the forest.

The rest of the team followed the Captain.

It wasn't too hard to guess which way Erika went. She left a trail of people behind.

However, as they turned the last corner, some guy in a white lab coat flew across the hall. He hit the wall with the sound of crinkling cellophane. He didn't move after he slid to the ground.

A slender dragon was standing over someone, its head turned toward the Avengers. Its hazel eyes stared at them for a second before it moved. Its paws were more like hands than paws. Its horns looked like antlers and outlined its eyes. It also had antennae-esque tendrils behind its antlers.

A feral-sounding growl came from the dragon's throat, making James take an involuntary step back. "Please tell me that thing's friendly."

Sam grimaced. "Oh, god. It's hurt Erika."

The dragon lowered its head, growling quieter this time. Its hazel eyes locked with Wanda's. Her eyes widened in understanding. "Zhat dragon is Erika's son, Ryu. Hydra injured her and he changed."

The Avengers rushed forward as the dragon stepped back. It shrank down to human size, loosing its dragon features.

Ryu's hazel eyes were full of tears. "They just attacked her! My ears filled with roaring, and then-then ...!" He sobbed, kneeling on the ground. "Mama!"

"Put some pressure on the wound." Steve instructed. "We'll have to move her carefully."

"Damn right ..." Erika rasped. I may look like I'm going to die, but that won't happen. That pressure wouldn't be a bad idea, though. My hands are soaked with blood and it's not the best feeling in the world. If she could, she probably would have grimaced at the feeling.

"Asgardians have an accelerated healing rate. If we can at least slow the bleeding, she'll likely recover." Vision nodded slowly.

"So, anyone have anything we could use for a bandage?" Tony asked.

~*~*~*~

"So. Snow."

Erika stopped in her tracks and turned around with a slightly pissed-bored expression. "Yes, Fury?" she asked.

"Nice scar." Fury's lip twitched.

Erika scowled and stormed down the hallway. "Thanks." She stopped and turned around when she got to a familiar door. "Oh, by the way, I'm retiring."

Now Fury stopped at the news. "What?" he asked.

"Tomorrow. Just dropped my papers off on your desk. Day before yesterday showed me how dangerous it was for me to remain here, so I'm leaving. I might come back ... long after you and everyone in this facility are in holes six feet underground." Erika slipped into her office.

Fury followed her. "And what urged this sudden decision?" he asked.

"Well, I just don't want to be around another Infinity Stone. You saw what happened with the Tesseract and Loki's Scepter-slash-Mind-Stone. Next thing you know, someone's going to be coming after me because I'm nothing short of what they consider a god." Erika rolled her eyes. "There's nothing you can do to change my mind, so if you'll go back to not working, I've got an office to clean out." She pointedly turned her back to him and grabbed the jade plant.

~*~*~*~

"Hey, did you hear?" Clint asked during lunch.

Nat nodded. "Yup. Snow's retiring. She doesn't really care to work with Vision, appearently."

"That's too bad. She was an asset to SHIELD." Clint shrugged.

It was near the end of their lunch break when Erika came walking into the cafeteria. Clint noticed this and leaned in towards the other Avengers. "Watch this." He leaned back and called out to the Assistant Director. "Hey, Snow!"

She stopped and turned to him.

"What's for lunch?" Clint looked like he was about to laugh.

Erika sighed, crossing her arms. "Well, seeing as how you more than likely took my lunch again, I suppose I'll have to go out again." She put a finger on her chin in thought. "It's been a long time since I had sushi ... maybe I'll go for that. Or Chinese."

"Aw, yeah! Mind bringing me back something, Snow?" Clint asked.

"In your wildest dreams, Barton," Erika scoffed. She turned around, unhooking her keys from her belt loop. At the sound of the jingling, Ryu came racing in at a speed that would rival Pietro's. "Ryu, sushi or Chinese?"

Ryu's eyes lit up at the mention of Chinese food. "Chinese! Sushi's gross!"

"My thoughts exactly." Sam made a face.

"If you go to Joy Luck, I'll take some of their teriyaki chicken! I'll pay you back, promise!"

Erika turned around, ignoring the request. "Anyone besides Barton want anything from Joy Luck? I'm buying."

"How about three of everything? Since you're buying, I'm sure you'll have enough to pay for it all. And then some." Natasha had her phone out and was looking at someone's bank statement. Whoever held the account, they were very well off. Their checking account held well over $50,000,000, and their savings was nothing to sneeze, either.

"Let me guess. You hacked into my account again." Erika sighed, pulling out her own phone. "Destiny, please change my pin and reroute all funds to another account."

"You got it." A slightly robotic feminine voice replied. "Would you like me to do anything else?"

Erika started walking out of the breakroom. "Yeah, call Joy Luck and order three of everything to be picked up in half an hour. Oh, and would you mind starting Destiny? Or Valerie? Whichever will hold all that food."

~*~*~*~

The next morning turned out to be the most exciting one since the Sokovia incident.

Pietro and Thor came back, Erika's true identity was revealed, and Thor got to meet his adopted nephew.

It went something like this ...

~*~*~*~

The morning was beyond boring. He had no books to read, no Mama to talk to, and he was currently following Natasha around the building. He finally got bored enough to look out the window at the lawn.

The first thing Ryu noticed was a slender man running across the yard at a blinding speed. The only thing that was visible of him was the streaks he left as he ran.

"Woah! So who's that guy?" Ryu tugged on Natasha's sleeve, pointing to the streak. Erika had asked Natasha to keep an eye on Ryu while she finalized some things before she left.

Natasha looked to where Ryu was pointing and stiffened. "Wanda! You might want to see this!" she called.

The redhead came towards the two, her eyes widening as she saw the streak. "Pietro ..." she whispered. "How is zis possible?!"

Ryu grinned, about to reply when a loud rumble of thunder stopped him. There was a blinding light that caught his attention, and panic seized his chest. Mama ... That's were she just was! I have to go find her! He wiggled his hand free from Natasha's and ran down the hallway, towards the stairs.

"Ryu!" Natasha called.

"That's where Mama was! I have to go check on her!" Ryu cried, grabbing the railing and jumping down the two flights of stairs. He burst through the doors on the ground level, racing as fast as his little legs could carry him. However, before he got halfway across the lawn, a winged female wearing a suit of armor burst through the trees. Her face was covered by a silver helmet with tiny wings sticking out. The wings she was using to fly were made of magic, unlike any wings he had seen on anything else, bird, insect, or dragon.

A humming noise tickled his ears, and Ryu stared as a hammer came flying out of the woods, following the woman. The hammer crashed through one of her wings, sending her to the ground. She landed gracefully, the other wing vanishing as her feet made contact with the earth. She reached to her sides and drew a pair of matching knives.

"Hrist!" A male's voice boomed. The hammer flew back into the forest, and not long after, a man with blonde hair and a beard emerged from the treeline as well.

The woman smirked. "Oh, you really want to duke everything out here, hm?" she asked. Her voice had a slight European accent that Ryu hadn't heard since Mama took him away from the evil dragons.

"Tell me! Why did you not aid Asgard when the Dark Elves attacked?" Thor asked.

"I'll tell you. Only if you can defeat me in combat." Hrist laughed, twirling her knives. "And only then will I tell you my reason, Prince of Asgard!"

That would mean Hrist is fighting Thor! Ryu's eyes widened as Thor attacked again. He threw his hammer at her again, but instead of trying to dodge it, she threw one of her knives at him, freeing a hand to snatch the hammer from the air.

'Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall wield the power of Thor.' The words seemed to echo in his mind. Ryu watched as Hrist's hand flashed toward the hammer, the handle flying toward her now. She grabbed it, stood there for a second, then dropped it as if it had burned her.

Thor's eyes widened, then narrowed. "Remove your helmet, Hrist. Now!" he demanded.

The Valkyrie sighed, removing the piece of armor shielding her face from view. Golden hair fell to her shoulder blades, and vibrant green eyes met Thor's blue ones.

Thor froze in shock, and Ryu looked behind him when he heard movement. The Avengers were coming out of the building one by one, probably wondering who this woman was.

"Sister?" Thor asked in bewilderment.
Next part! I'll probably have the next one up in a couple hours after the movie's done.

Marvel owns everything but Erika, Ryu, and the story. Those are mine.
